Happy Blogoversary

I just realized today marks the one year anniversary of when I began my blog. I wanted to do something big for my one year, but in the midst of packing, I have no time for a big shebang.

I have discovered a new love this past year. I love blogging. I've even blogged about my love for blogging. How did I ever live without it? I really don't know. It has been a good year. I feel so good about finally recording my life for posterity. And so good about keeping in touch with family and friends. But mostly I feel good about developing a new talent. I have discovered I really love writing and story telling. What did I do with all these stories before I entered the wonderful world of blogging?

So thank you Blogger for a fantastic first year. I look forward to many more. And an even bigger thank you to all my readers...family, friends and strangers alike. You have really fueled my fire.

For my one year blogoversary month, I've decided to play summer reruns (thanks mom for the clever idea). I'll re-post a few of my favorites from the past year. Mainly because I am busy moving and traveling, but also for your enjoyment...so you don't have to continually pull up my blog and find I haven't updated. I started the year with minimal readers. I have made new friends and reconnected with many old friends over the past year. So for the two or three of you who have read them, I apologize. But for everyone else...let me entertain you.

Without further ado, my very first post...which received a whopping three comments (and we all know we live for comments). Thank you Autumn, Jeff and Jeanine!

Jumping on the Bandwagon

I'm having one of those rare, but treasured moments when both of my toddlers are sweetly slumbering in their beds. So I sat down to the computer with a handful of the only sweets we currently have in our house of which we so eloquently refer to as "Pee-Pee Candy." Or, in other words, a jar of Skittles we keep in the medicine cabinet as a reward for properly using the toilet. I use the word properly only because with two young boys in our house, there is a lot of improper toilet use that goes on. Toys, clothes, gigantic wads of toilet paper, Dad's glasses and occasionally brothers limbs all get shoved into and sometimes flushed down the toilet. To get back on track, I enjoyed the Skittles. What else is a girl to do?

It has recently come to my attention that as the world moves deeper into the age of the Internet, it is quite commonplace to start your own blog. Since I'm never one to ignore a fad, I figured I better jump on the bandwagon. So I'm using this sweet moment of quiet to begin my blogging adventure.

First posts are so lame...mine included. Most of us feel a need to introduce ourselves to the blogosphere. Rarely do I see anyone jump right in with a normal post.

For months I didn't have any comments. I suppose that has something to do with the fact that I kept it private but still-it looks like I'm quite the loner for a while. It is so fun to have a place to capture the many thoughts isn't it? I think before I just detailed them in my head. Its nice to record them. I had been an awful journaler in more recent years. Kudos, Everyday Katie.

I like your idea to look back on your first year of blogging! Happy Blogaversary! I gather you are moving now too, so good luck with that! I know it is a difficult job. Especially with wee little ones in the house. Did you buy another house in Texas?

A very cool first post though! :) Yeah, my first several posts got just a few comments, but I am working my way up. Funny how we do live for comments- I just love them! I didn't realize it had been only a year! I thought you had been blogging longer than that. And, you are very good at it- I always enjoy your thoughts and stories. You, Autumn and Kelly were my original motivation for trying it and now I love it!
