It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

School started today.

I've never seen Parker more calm and collected about something so big. He has been nothing but excited about first grade. I was certain that would change as we got closer to the big day. No sign of nerves last night at bedtime. I thought it would hit hard this morning. Parker proved me wrong (in a good way) and walked down the halls with complete confidence, gave me a good bye high-five and I was outta there.

I was so proud of him. Last year he struggled for months. It took him until January to decide he liked school. What a change. (Hopefully he's still singing the same tune when he gets home.)

Parker's confidence probably stemmed in part from his new clothes. He was very specific about what he wanted to wear to first grade (no matter how much I tried to talk him out of it). All he wanted were Star Wars T-shirts and Sketchers. (Good bye Converse All Stars. Sniff. Sniff.) I am definitely a believer that the right clothes can boost your confidence so Star Wars T-shirts and Sketchers it was for my first grader.

And somehow he still looks out of control cute.

So cute. My kids were so excited too. I love love skechers, they are the best shoes. I got Lauren some super cute jelly skechers at the beginning of summer. They are the best.

He looks cute despite your clothing preferences. I'm glad he went off so easily and hope he has a successful first day.

So are you having a big yahoo day today? He is so stinking cute! Hopefully every year from here on out will be easy for him. But the question is . . . is it easy for you seeing your son go off to big kid school?

My boys have that same shirt... not purchased by me...

William was the same way on the first day of school. I hope it lasts for you. Because it didn't for us! I have to pry William out of the car everyday. Today he even took off in a dead sprint away from the school. Nice. Hopefully it gets better for us!

You made it through the Summer! Congrats! And the Star Wars shirt! It's so funny, because just today I was at old Navy with Brian and he saw a Toy Story shirt and freaked out and clutched it to his chest the whole time we were there and then tried to put it on because he loved it so much, but then I snuck it away from him and bought him an adorable rugby shirt that he cares nothing about. When we got home he kept looking in the bag and saying "Buzz? Buzz?" and I felt guilty. All the other kids will think Park looks awesome in his shirt. And their moms will know that you care more about his happiness than your own vanity. And as you said, he still DOES look really cute.

What a cutie he is. I wish you lived closer so Hannah could date him. I don't want her dating yet, but when she does, I want her to date Parker. :)

I know what you mean about dressing them the way you want, but he does look adorable. He's got his own rocking style going on, I like that.

ps- about the library card, I know I know. I said it was shameful that we do not have them. I'm working on it. :)
