An Apple a Day

So posting pictures is not my strength as a blogger. We've been having all kind of fall fun and I haven't posted any of it. I really have so many pictures I haven't made any effort to post. I'll see what I get around to.

But you can't live in Ohio in the fall and not post about apple picking at Lynds Fruit Farm. We only had one Saturday open the entire fall. It was of course the coldest Saturday all month...snow flurries and all. And me with no coat. But with the help of a warm funnel cake and some fresh hot apple cider, we managed.

I believe it was Grandpa Lynd himself who took us on a private tractor-pulled hay ride. He stopped off to pick us some of his favorite special variety of apples almost as big as our heads. It was apple ecstasy. Spencer and I commented how in complete honesty we've never had a better apple in our lives.

We picked pumpkins while we were there. Right off the vine. That was a little short lived. I was freezing at that point.

Spencer talked me into picking way more apples than we needed...but we've been enjoying them ever since.

I'm going to pick apples this afternoon...at Karla's house. She ordered them and I'm going to pick them up and pay for them. Done, done, and done! Tomorrow I'm making carmel apples and delivering them to a few people.

It looks like a fun family adventure. Coats make your boys look so much bigger and older. Yikes!

How fun!!! We need to hit up Oak Glen and pick some apples.. I did that last year on my birthday, it was a lot of fun... But it definitely wasn't as cold as where you were! I think we were in jeans and tshirts... I loved the pictures!!!!!!!! I want to see more!

Those are some really great pictures!! Looks like a really fun time, despite the cold. I love your red scarf. I am loving all things red right now.

My favorite apples are the honeycrisps, and they are only out for about two months this time of year. I bet yours were so good.

I LOVE picking fresh apples- especially at LYNDS. That place is amazing (and my dad is close friends with one of the owners... :) I went to school with his kids!) There really truly is no better tasting apple than the one that comes right of the tree! I have been twice already this year and would love to go again- though not sure it will happen though at this point. :)

We love Lynds too! I wanted to go this past weekend and get Fuji's, but it was too wet and so I didn't go- but I did make it 2 times already- and yes, the apples are so much better than the store bought when they are freshly picked!! I love this time of year!
by the way, when are you going to get a coat?!!!

Hey! We're doing the orchard apple and pumpkin-picking thing this weekend! And I didn't remember that Spencer had a full-on beard! When did that happen??
