Time to Say Goodbye

Today is Parker's last day of pre-k before school lets out for the summer. Parker has grown tremendously in the past 9 months. I remember thinking how smart and old he seemed last fall. And I can't believe how much smart-ER and old-ER he seems now. Parker can pick up a book he's never seen before and read straight through. And he counts all the way to 112. Pre-K was the best thing for that kid. Three hours a day...5 days a week. It was awesome. Parker has a constant need to challenge his mind. Boredom for him means serious trouble. I'm am DREADING the long summer ahead. Our entire household runs just a bit smoother if he can get away and learn something new every day. And I'm just not the kind of parent to provide that at home on a daily basis. Wish me luck.

I just have to contrast our first day of school photo shoot (ironically enough, Reid is wearing this very outfit today.):

...with the last day of school photo shoot:

Same goofy kid...much older version. He's excited about the idea of no school all summer. I suspect he'll be whistling a different tune in about two weeks...maybe less. In fact, when school was canceled 2 days for the swine flu, he was chompin' at the bit to go back.

This is his teacher Ms. Wood.

And the assistant teacher Ms. Milly

And the two of them together...Parker's expression is great.

They were great. It's really been a fantastic year. Dropping Parker off the first day was a little tough...it's hard to trust someone else with your kids every day. But the end of the year is even harder. I hate that he has to say goodbye to his friends and teachers. Parker was so at home there.

That is amazing how much he has changed- I am excited to meet the "new grown up" Parker in a few weeks! How would you feel about a calling in RS?! Let me know!!

Wow! I remember when you posted about his first day, that seemed to go by so fast! I'm glad he learned so much and I feel for you about having the kids being bored in the Summer. I bet it's harder with 3 boys to entertain! I know it's hard enough to entertain Derek. He's not a kid who is content coloring or making projects. He wants to be outside, doing things all day long!

Time flies by in a flash! Javin is graduating high school in a couple of weeks... Shaw just finished 2nd grade yesterday. I got some bricks and a roll of duct tape to strap some bricks on his head so he can't grow up anymore.

My geeks actually are already complaining about summer break. They love school, Austin for the learning and Autumn for the social aspect. We need to share ideas so the kids don't take us out!!

Lauren is the same way with school, when she gets sick she's so upset she has to miss school. Right now she's counting down the days until schools out but once she's home and so bored I know she'll also wish she were back at school. I'm not that mom either who can keep a consistence work/learning schedule with my kids. I don't know how stay at home mom's home school their kids. Anyways, Parker is darling and so grown-up and he's so smart!

He looks so much older in the last day of school pic compared to the first day. That is neat that he loved pre-k, I can't wait until Emma is old enough.

It is amazing how much they change in such a short time and you don't even realize it till you look back at old pictures. What a sad day. We missed the last day of preschool. I am so happy he had such a great experience. Great job Parker.
