I sat next to someone in Sunday School last weekend who was following along in their scriptures on something that looked like this:
And immediately, Gray chimed up with "Hello? Hello?" Though it was not being used as a telephone at the moment, he knew exactly what is was. How in the world does that look like a phone? When I think of a phone, I still picture something a little more like this (even though we don't have a land line):
I think I need one of these. Only I'm thinkin' yellow. Don't you think that'd be a killer accent piece on a black bookshelf?
Gray has one of these:
A cute little toy. An updated version of a toy I grew up with. Though he'll play with it on occasion, he has NO IDEA what to do with it or that it's even a toy phone. It looks nothing like the phones used in today's world. To Gray, it's just another toy to throw down the stairs or swing at his brothers. His toy phone (which he LOVES) is a used cell phone. Much more fun than this wiggly-eyed pull along.

Oh, that's kind of funny. There should be a mandatory class for kids to take to learn of their roots: Phones with a curly cord, manual typewriters and computers the size of your dining room table,
To funny... I am the opposite, since we only have cell phones I wonder how Emma knows how to call a phone like Gray's toy and the one above phones. Ps. I saw your nursery countdown I hope you enjoy your babyless time next Sunday!!!(I know I do)
This technology is CRAZY these days that a little kid can look at one of those phones and know that it is a phone, seriously! But you know what, i sure would love to have one of those I Phones that is for sure!
It's amazing how far we've come- my kids never played with that kind of phone,either- but they surely know cell phones!
I am always so amazed at what my Jackson picks up on. and to know that a cell phone is something you talk in... a-mazed!
I think we dont give our kids enough credit for what they really know!
We also have a toy phone like that, which Chase has never used. He loves phones, and uses our old cell phones, but will sometimes hold up random objects to use as a phone. Kids are so funny. Wonder when our kids are grown, what their kids will be using as play phones.
Sooooo funny- a true sign of the times! :)
Too funny... my boys love to play with our old cell phones too!
AHHH Progress!
I don't really realize how old I am until I'm around little kids that don't know what I'm talking about when I show them how things used to look. I remember when cell phones first came out and how big they were, now they're small enough to slide easily into a back pocket...whereas when they first came out they hardly fit in a purse! I'm too the point where I can say "When I was a little kid..." I didn't ever think I would live to be this old! :)
Oh, that's funny, and so true! My friend was laughing that her kids first compound word was "cell phone." I feel old saying this, but it's definitely a much different generation...
Too funny and so true. Our kids are growing up in a whole new era. Now we are the old one's!!
