So I mentioned that Reid thought turning three would magically make him potty-trained. Well that's pretty much how it went down.
Reid got #2 down like a year ago. He just doesn't like getting his business done in a diaper. So all year I've been thinking the rest would follow shortly. We had made the big potty training effort last fall with charts and rewards and the whole bit. But to no avail, Reid just wasn't ready. I'm not sure if it was laziness or lack of control, but whatever, it didn't happen.
The day after his third birthday he asked for undies when he woke up...since he was, after all, three now. I was skeptical since I had him try the same thing only 10 days earlier with no luck. But when your three year old asks to try, you don't turn it down. And to my surprise he made it the whole day with no accidents. Then the next day and the next day. In fact, he's only had 4 accidents in the past two weeks. He's been all over town in those undies and I think he's ready to make it through the night. He's been dry in the morning for the large majority of those days.
I complain that my kids are late bloomers, but let me tell you...it's been easy both times. And now for the first time in THREE YEARS, I only have one kid in diapers. There were even five months in there that I had three kids in diapers. I can't even tell you what a break this is for my budget.
Now once again, we just have to work on aim. Which is a HUGE problem when Reid is not wearing his prosthetic. He can't even stand up straight, let alone pee.

Good luck on the aiming issue. You are an optimist.
AWESOME!!! How exciting! I can't imagine, esp with three at once!! I am having such a frustration with Ellie and accidents. She showed interest last spring and is STILL having accidents. I'm sure its b/c we keep leaving for several weeks BUT I hate it!!! I am about to lose my mind. I am NOT putting her back in diapers either. Sleep time has always been diapers. WAY TO GO Reid!
Sounds like Reid is ready to be a big boy! Way to go Reid!!!
YAY for Reid...how easy was that? Olivia is still in diapers. I went and bought one of those toilet training seats you put on the toilets and Olivia obviously knew what it was because I brought it in the house and she screamed and hid under a blanket. She is not ready.
I am so glad you only have 1 kid in diapers...I long for that day.
Yea for one in diapers! So nice! I realized with William that the older they are the easier it is to potty train. I'm in no rush with James.
Nicely done Reid. I bet you are in heaven with just one in diapers. I am thinking about putting jackson to the test soon. He tells me to change his diaper about 2 minutes before he poops. Hopefully this is a good sign!
I don't think the aim has anything to do with not wearing his prosthetic. It's a boy thing...even when they're 8. Good luck with that.
You make me laugh. Ethan sat down until just about a month ago, I guess he decided he was old enough to stand, I don't know.
Well that is GREAT that he decided that he was going to be 3 and all grown up! I love the aiming problem and yeah it does make since that it would be a little harder for him, he will get it sometime.
Girls do seem so much easier to potty train, maybe that is why I am having a girl?
That is so great!! RJ cant aim standing on two legs, so I am sure Reid is facing a bit of a battle:) I am sure you are beyond thrilled!! Because we have all girls around here except RJ, he is sitting right now..maybe when he is a bit taller..and not still 2, we will change! We are still working on the #2 issue..but he is good about 75% of the time, so I cant complain! We need to get together soon.
Way to go Reid. I was going to comment how it must be hard for Reid to aim properly with his prosthetic, but then I read your mom's comment and thought, she's probably right. Boys will be boys. Hooray for only one kid in diapers though. I am hoping to get Hannah toilet trained very soon.
ps... good luck with the aiming thing. William won't stand up so we won't have to worry about that for a little while at least.
Yay for Reid and Yay for you!!!!!!!!! What a big day! :) I am glad he is doing so well- that is awesome! You should celebrate with that extra money! :)
