Going Dutch

There is something about being poor that reminds you that there is fun to be had outside of shopping malls, restaurants and movie theaters. Our current favorite adventure involves our dutch oven and a ten minute drive to the lake. Why have we been neglecting our dutch oven for so many years? Not only does it produce delicious meals, but we've had more family fun on these recent outings than we have on any shopping trip and dinner. Hopefully we won't forget to do this again when we're rolling in the dough.

Our Friday night outing got cut a little short due to extreme wind at the lake. We decided lighting anything on fire was a bad idea. We played for a while and took the cookout back home. We enjoyed our dutch oven dinner in the comfort of our kitchen.

I'm glad you're finally making use of that dutch oven. I love dutch oven food although I've never done any cooking myself. Sounds like a fun family activity.

How fun! And I love all the pictures of the boys! I'm like your mom... I love dutch oven food but I've never actually cooked in a dutch oven.

Okay, let me be the dumb one- what is a dutch oven? I have heard the name, but apparently I don't own one, so I wouldn't know how to cook in one!
I loved the pics and collages- they are growing far too quickly!

Sometimes I think being poor has its advantages. This weekend our friends came over and had a campout in our backyard. We had a fire pit and did smores, sent up a tent and it was so fun. We slept in the house, but they slept outside. It didnt cost anything and Olivia thought it was great.

I have to admit I have never used the dutch oven, but I may have to now!

Great pics...I love your boys.

Ah a dutch oven makes anything taste good, I love dutch oven peach cobbler and hate regular peach cobbler. The outdoors are great too... you don't have to worry about how loud anyone is. Your boys are cute they look like they are having a great time.

How do you make the collages of pictures? Do you use a program? If so which one? I love them, and would like to learn how.

How fun! Out of ALL the things that I could have posted that are similar to yours-and there have been multiple-I NEVER would have guessed it would include a dutch oven. Pictures this evening-probably. Mine doesn't include a lake though-how fun!!

What a fun collage! You guys are always good at getting fun. I agree- that is one thing good about being poor is you don't waste money when there are other ways to have even more fun. Maybe some day when we are all rolling in the dough (ha ha- ya right...) we can remind each other! :)

You're a genius! I've lived here for 3 years, and I don't think we've been out to the lake even once. And we're surrounded by them! Call us next time you go!

Can I just say that those pictures are darling. Reid still looks like a hard one to get a snap shot of. I love the one you and Grayden by the water, so cute. Another thought your boys will look back at those pictures and think my Mom dressed me so cool. They look like little models.
