Out Of The Mouths Of Babes...and Boys

This was my worst week in primary yet. I finally had to ban all chairs from the class room because the crazy kids couldn't keep them on the floor. And a member of the primary presidency is now in the regular habit of taping the light switches during opening exercises because the kids have some weird issue with turning them off. It's a major battle. I don't think any of their quotes have been as funny since the first week I started writing them, but they seem to be popular, so here it is by popular demand...Out of the Mouth of Babes.

A: We fast when we brush our teeth.

L: I choose the right by letting my sister brush her teeth first.

A: 'I like to move it, move it!' (We were playing follow the leader and when it was A.'s turn to be the leader, he sang this accompanied by a crazy little dance.)

E: I have to whisper something in your ear. When I went to the bathroom, I couldn't go pee because there was a baby getting his diaper changed in there and it was a boy. I didn't want him to watch me.

L: I show my sister I love her when I share my balloon.

During sharing time, Sis. N. asked the kids if they knew what was on her poster. A child yelled out: It must be a pirate map!

Sis. V. had a teacher walk down the hall during singing time to see how far she could get and still hear the singing. When she asked how far they thought she could get, one kid answered: To the end of the earth!

I really wish I had my pen and paper out during sacrament meeting. I'd say at least six or seven young men got up to bear their testimonies today. You'd think some one had promised them a candy bar or something. But I don't think that was the case. When one of them got up he encouraged the rest of the young men to get up, too...and they did. One by one we heard the simple and strong testimonies of these stalwart young men. It was awesome. I've never really lived in a ward where the young men get up to bear their testimonies...especially cool young men. Shoot, I never bore my testimony from the pulpit until college. I think I did it one year at girls camp and probably even at EFY and possibly youth conference. I was impressed. What a great group of young men. These are the only two comments I remember from them....and it's not word for word, but close. Again, I wish I had a pen handy. I really enjoyed testimony meeting today.

I just want to bear my testimony of the brotherhood in this ward...

When they split wards, I wasn't really happy about it. All my friends were in another ward. (Then, in an effort to retain is current ward friends he added the following.) Well not all my friends.

The youth are so fun.

You make me not miss Primary!! Thanks! I got a new calling today- Dan called yesterday and asked if Dana and I could meet him- I thought it was going to be a big calling, since he has never had my husband sit with me before extending a call...and I knew he was over Primary, so I thought it was something more than
"Cub Scout Committee Chair"- seriously, that was it! I am rolling my eyes, if you can't tell- yes, and he really had no idea what it even was- shocker! I still get to keep my RS instructor calling, but I do have to report to the Primary President- lucky me- but really I get to work with Bonnie and Rebecca, so it's not all bad, but really, you call me AND my husband in to extend a CS call? Really?! You know Dan- Now I am sighing...
Don't you miss Reynoldsburg, yet?!

First, I love to read the sayings of your Primary children. I loved Primary but it sounds like you have some difficulty. Have you tried bribing them?
Second, thanks! You know what I am thanking you for. Abbey said she talked to you-which I didn't really want-but I know the info. will be safe with you.
Third, Life isn't fair, is it?
Anyway, good luck with the Primary kids!

I LOVE it! Thanks for sharing. I SO enjoy youth testimonies. It actually really concerns me about the lack of in our ward. Seriously.

I thought of you today. I got handed a primary manual during sacrament meeting to substitute. The lesson said: Copy the following game onto cardstock, bring game markers - buttons of different colors, make a simple crown, gather a handful of rocks for a demonstration etc etc.
The lesson was really a good one if I could have somehow gathered rocks and buttons during sacrament meeting. I took melanie into the class with me to entertain while I drew the whole game on the white board. Crazy day.
I have an idea for the seating problem. Have you considered tieing them up with heavy duty rope?

My favorite quote of the week was the "move it move it" one. Classic.

And I totally relate to that second young man. That's how I felt after they split the wards in Corona our Sophomore year.

That's really cool that you had so many young men get up. We get one or two youth occassionally... but they don't even have youth speakers in our ward. It's something I'm trying to change.

Every Sunday I just feel terrible for you, I know those kids are rowdy. You know it is bad when the president says that the sunbeams are the best, most reverent class in the primary. YIKES! We have visiting teaching conference coming up, so at least you have that to look forward to?! And yes, we have a pretty remarkable group of youth in our ward. It takes a lot to get up in front of your peers.
