Reid has been very preoccupied with coloring the past few days. The first thing he said this morning was, "Color now." He sat at the table coloring from the time I got home from my disastrous jog, until 10:30. He stopped for ten minutes to see what Parker was up to, then parked himself on the family room floor to color for 2 more hours until I made him stop (kicking and screaming) for lunch and a nap.
I've never known a toddler to focus on one thing for so long. And where did this love for coloring come from? What happened to my boy who ate crayons and colored on the wall? It seems he made this change over night.
Every time he gets a new crayon, he has to tell me what he's coloring and he comes up with the funniest things. "Color manatee. Color firetruck. Color elephant. Color airplane. Color water. Color race track. Color penguin. Color road. Color Parker. Color notebook. Color choo-choo. Color cement mixer." On and on and on. And he'll keep telling me until I repeat it. It's a little tricky because I'm not always sure what he's saying and I certainly can't tell by his drawings.
As I go about my day, I keep hearing demands from my one year old..."More paper! More paper! More paper!" Occasionally followed by a "please" or a "NOW!" It's nice to have him so mellow today...and out of Parker's way. They've hardly fought except the couple of times Park comes in to crumble up his papers and throw his crayons out of reach.

Leah is my artist- I am seriously buying her a ream of paper for Christmas- she will color till there's no tomorrow! She will draw and draw and post them all over my fridge. I have to wait till she is in school to pitch 99% of them! I save like 2 a week- and I throw away probably 30 a week! I just bought new paper for our printer, and she has gone through at least 100 pages in about 6 days! I now have to limit her! Crazy! But I love it!
So funny. Sounds like my Lizzy. Except that poor thing does it out of boredom. She can't wait to go to school! I love your little "Parkerisms". I totally need to write down things like that. How old are your little boys and how the heak did you end up in Ohio?!
so cute. I heard a good idea for all of that art work is to scan it-like you probably did b/c of your camera situation-that way you keep the memories forever without the boxes full of them. Manatee!! I don't think I learned that word until I was 12.
SO CUTE, AT LEAST IT KEEPS HIM OCCUPIED FOR THE DAY.
So cute... William has been really into coloring these days as well :)
