I finished painting the living room...finally.
Unfortunately one project inevitably leads to another. Taking the old, flimsy, ugly, drooping curtain rods down required new curtain rods. Immediately. Our front window is pretty big. One hundred and twenty inch curtain rods cost a pretty penny. At JoAnn for example, they cost $120. And those were ugly and segmented. Anything solid and high fashion was out of the question.
Spencer and I wanted kind of an industrial look. So we headed to the hardware store and came up with these ourselves, using electrical conduit for the rod....12 ft for $1.47. AHHHH. That's more like it.
...now we're in desperate need of new drapes...

You are so inventive, you amaze me. Now I'm dying to see the drapes that you come up with.
I desperately want new drapes in my living room. But it is not a need, it's a want. So they will have to wait.
Now YOU'RE the smarty pants Kate!! Very impressive curtain rod.
I was so surprised to hear that Parker is shy by the way. I'm glad that you had something suitable to wear for his parent/teacher conference.
And I love that I was the 2nd person to comment on this post. By the time I get to looking at your blog I'm always like the 25th person to say something, and by then, there's really nothing left to say!!
You are the best at finding the best!! Can't wait to see those curtains!
You can't usually see the rod completely anyway, so that is a perfect solution!! What a great idea- and when you find new drapes, share...
I love it!! Really Love it. Love the price even more!! Very thriftily gifted you are I must say!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
That is a cute idea!!!
I am SO excited you can come Saturday!
Love it! It's the perfect solution!
Pretty cool. When you told me about it, I was wondering how you attached it. I love how the room is coming together.
Ingenious! I love it!
You are so inventive... want to come help me with my house?
We (as in, Ben) did the same thing for our shower curtain rod this past summer. We couldn't get a straight one because of a window so he made his own and it turned out great. Good job on yours!
oo lala. Love it!!
