I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandee

This is the Fourth of July three years ago. We attended a local celebration even though there was rain in the forecast. The rain just about held off and shortly before BOOM time it started to pour. Ohio is known to have some pretty heavy down pours in a short amount of time. So we packed up and hiked to the car. But when we got there and waited in the traffic awhile, the rain started to clear and there was buzz about the fireworks still going off. We waited it out in our Subaru and sure enough we enjoyed our explosions in the sky.

I love the Fourth of July...something I also learned from my mother. Tomorrow we'll be serving our traditional red, white and blue breakfast, picnicking in the park, enjoying our star spangled sugar cookies (thanks Debbie...mom told me about your stash), waving our flags, playing our patriotic music, and of course ooing and ahhing over some fireworks. I can't think of a better reason to celebrate!

LET FREEDOM RING!!!!

Here here! God bless the USA! In other news, I've NEVER commented on your blog when there's been so few comments! I always have to scroll to the bottom for five minutes before I can comment(ok, little exaggeration..but you know). Score for me, way to be number 2 on the comment list! :)

I agree! :) We now have a Red White and Blue breakfast every year too, thanks to the inspiration you gave me last year when you posted about it. The boys loved it last year and made sure I didn't forget this year. I love the picnics, the fireworks and everything about the holiday! We were going to see the local show tonight, but the girls are exhausted from the last 3 busy days and are passed out cold and it is raining- so probably going to miss it this year. :(
