Pajama Personalities

We don't give our kids large amounts of freedom when it comes to choosing clothes. I mean, I can hold up a couple of shirts and let the boys choose between them, but that's about as far as it gets on days we're leaving the house. After all, we have an image to uphold.

So when it comes to pajamas, the crazies can take any liberty they desire. We don't really buy pj's that often...thanks to a cousin just older than Parker...but we have all kinds of choices.

Parker is VERY particular about what he wears. Tops and bottoms MUST coordinate. And ideally, they should match someone else in the house. If Dad is wearing a blue sweatshirt to bed, so is Parker. He goes to great lengths to make sure his jammies match with someone. (Except in the summer when he sleeps in no jammies at all...but frankly, neither does Spencer so I suppose they still sort of match...that's neither here nor there.) Parker's a trip. It makes me laugh just about every time.

Parker's reaction upon finding out that if you jiggle your belly after drinking a mug of hot cocoa it makes a swishing noise. That kid is a hot cocoa fiend.

Then Reid comes along... Reid is particular too. He knows what he wants. There are days he has to incorporate all his favorite characters. He is not the least bit concerned with matching in any form. The night that inspired this post, he had on striped pants under Thomas the Tank Engine shorts with a flannel button-down Spiderman top. He's a riot. He's also particular about no clothes ever touching his stump. I don't get it, but then again, I don't have a stump. Pj's are always pushed up or rolled up to stay above his knee. When his prosthetic leg is on, it's no problem. But when it's off, a fit is thrown if his pants come unrolled.

Reid is appropriately holding "If I Ran The Circus" by Dr. Seuss.

I don't get these kids. You'd think after having one, you'd know what to expect the second time around. So not the case. Gray is too young to pick is own pj's. I'll anxiously await his pajama personality.

"Myself I sleep in the all together." (A line from my favorite...Thoroughly Modern Millie.)

OH that is too funny. I love that they are so particular about it.

Olivia's big thing is shoes. She comes undone if her shoes arent on. At night when I put her to bed, I take her shoes off, and with out fail when I go to check on her before I go to bed her shoes are back on. Kids are crazy.

I wish I could spend one day with your kids...they are super awesome.

Boys are so funny! Gotta love them

So I backtracked your blog to see if there was a story about Reid's leg but it doesn't go that far back. If you don't mind, what is the story with that?

Those are such funny pictures! I love Reid's 3 layered look- right now my kids don't match their jammies- I used to go to great lengths to have them look adorable before bed, and now I just settle for in bed! Celeste insists on wearing Leah's jammies to bed...whatever...as long as she goes to bed I don't really care- she does look adorable in too big jammies, though!

That's so cute! And once again Parker and William are so similar! Sometimes I'll try to mix and match jammies (you know the kind that come with 2 pants and 2 shirts but all match?) He won't have anything to do with it... totally throws a fit! They must go together!

That is so funny. Derek is starting to want to wear whatever he wants. Rain boots with everything. It makes me smile.

How fun!!! Kenny is a lot like Reid... he doesn't care if it matches or not. Jacob will always pick a matching set, but with no care as to what anyone else is wearing. The girls now wear backwards pajamas so as to keep the pajamas...and the diaper...on at all times. ya... Look for that post maybe later today if I get to it. I am supposed to be paying bills now...

Anyway, how cool to see Reid standing on his stump! I wouldn't have know that was possible! Such an amazing kid!

That's weird... I do remember her a little bit. I had to really look at her face, but it does ring a bell! That was a long time ago! I love all of our outfits! Look atthat picture... Julie Gaskell and that girl, Michelle... can't remember her last name.. and Rachelle Holbrook. WOW!

It always amazes me how different mine are, too. They certainly keep me on my toes. I tend to throw together whatever is clean for my pajamas, so matching is optional. :)
